Sarah's Crohn's Blog - Strictures
Sarah’s Crohn’s Blog is a series of journal entries related to Sarah’s battle with Crohn’s Disease. She was initially diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 2010, but since then the diagnosis has changed to Crohn’s Disease. Anything referring to ulcerative colitis in these blogs was simply written before the diagnosis changed.

Update: I had my flex sig today after two days of no food/water by mouth, and I had not just one, but TWO strictures. The first one was the previous stricture I had that had shrunken a little bit (think of it like scar tissue shrinking up), and the second one was a severe stenosis (narrowing) at my most recent surgical site. That tiny little pinhole in the first photo is the only way my food could get through, so it's no wonder I had an obstruction. The second photo is what it looked like after the doctor dilated it to 1cm. It's still not a huge opening, so I have to go back in a week to get it dilated even bigger. I've been feeling so-so, but definitely better. I passed gas for the first time a few hours ago, and I am finally eating some soft foods. The plan is to go home tomorrow and recover before my next procedure. I sure hope this isn't a recurring issue because this sucks!
